Weekly Must-Have: Burberry’s Complete Eye Palette

Sometimes, life feels really complicated. Like when you wake up in the morning and you can’t seem to decide on a bag to go with your all black outfit. Should you keep up the rocker vibe and go with a black bucket bag? Or add a pop of color to your ensemble. Oh, decisions.

And then there’s morning makeup. Light and simple or dramatic and mysterious? To do a lip or not to do a lip, that is the question. Blush or just a 3 minute contour… or both?

When my decision-making skills are in serious jeopardy, I’m grateful for an eyeshadow quad. Yes, it’s the simple things in life that get me through the day. And the one that I’m reaching for today is Burberry’s Complete Eye Palette ($60). To simplify, it’s just that – complete. Each palette contains 4 powder shades in complimenting colors — starting with the lightest – or base – and moving on to two blending shades and ending with the darkest hue which can be used to line, define, or add flair to your smokey look — that make up a bevy of beautiful eye looks. With just the ONE quad!

The formulas are soft and silky and easily blendable with long-lasting, vibrant color in a color-true finish. With nine quads to choose from, your only real dilemma will be which quad to buy today? I always stick with neutrals so I’m a fan of the Mocha palette, but to follow this season’s muted, muddy trend, I’m contemplating giving the Sage Green quad a go. The other must-have, nighttime, Kate Moss, sexy, smokey eye palette to purchase is Smokey Grey, filled with 3 blackish grey tones and a pearly white base. DRAMA (only the good kind, of course).

So maybe the decision is more complicated than I initially led on, but the application, well, that’s a no-brainer. Follow the color spectrum – light as a base across the entire lid to brow bone, two medium shades as your lid wash, using the darker of the two in the crease if a smokey eye is what you’re after, and, finally, the darkest shade as your liner/ smudger, applied to top and bottom lashes and smudged and smoked out. Voila. Easy peasy.

But I SWEAR, these quads are like a one-stop-shop for full bodied eyes. Like a guy who opens the door AND brings flowers on a date. Like a pair of shoes that add height AND are so comfortable you can run a mile in them (if you’re the running type… which I’m not)…. You get the picture, right?
