What to Wear for Fall: Triangle Body Type

style-is-confidence

Wearing clothes that look awesome on your body gives you a terrific sense of confidence. Learning how to dress to compliment your assets and camouflage the areas you don’t want emphasized isn’t magic or even talent. It’s just a system that anyone can learn.

Today, we’ll focus on the Triangle Body Type and what to wear for fall!

Triangle body shape

Your Shape: Your lower body is wider than your upper body.
Your Goal: Draw attention to your upper body and minimize your lower body.

What to Wear for Fall: Triangle Body Type

  1. Add volume to your upper half with chunky knit sweaters.  A chunky infinity scarf is a great option as well!
  2. Minimize your lower body with wide-leg pants or jeans.  Ideally, you want them to flow from the hips to the feet. Pants that cling to your thighs do not compliment your body shape.
  3. A dress with an a-line cut wears well on your body type. This particular one is so cleaver in it’s design because the black colorblock is greater on the bottom (minimizing hips) and the pattern is wider at the top (bringing width to your shoulders, visually).  With other dresses, look for the pattern, ruffles or other design elements to be on the upper body to draw attention upward.
  4. Tops with ruffles, horizontal stripes, butterfly sleeves or off-the-shoulder necklines work best for you.  Avoid blouse with ruffles, horizontal stripes or light colorblocking on the bottom half of the top. This draws the eye to your mid-section and hips.
  5. A-line skirts in a solid, dark color are staples for your wardrobe. This faux leather style is perfect for pairing with everything from chunky sweaters to feminine blouses.
  6. Accessorize with dangling earrings or large necklaces to visually draw the eye to your upper body.
  7. Wear shoes the same color as your pants to elongate your legs.  A pointed toe is a great option.

Each of these pieces work for a variety of outfits and are great staples to a well-edited wardrobe!

Remember, if it doesn’t work for your body type, don’t waste your time trying it on and definitely don’t waste your money buying it. You deserve to look and feel your absolute best so don’t settle for wardrobe pieces that fail you.
