It’s important to note that cheek stains can be a little tricky to blend, but once they’re on your cheeks, they’re staying there. People with bumpy, uneven, skin should avoid cheek stains as they can often accentuate flaws on the skin and they should also never be used over powder products. If you prefer a video tutorial you can find one at the end of this post.
Start off by wiping off any excess product from the applicator.
Using the applicator draw an angled line on the center of your cheek.
Then draw another line across from the one you already created. Continue drawing lines until you form a #hashtag shape. Applying your cheek stain in a #hashtag shape means you don’t apply too much product to the skin.
It should look a little like this.
Using clean fingers blend out the cheek stain. You may need to spend a while blending as cheek stains can sometimes be difficult to blend.
Now do the same on the other cheek, creating that same #hashtag shape. Remember, when using liquid and cream formulas not to use them over the top of powder products or they will become very difficult to blend and may look patchy.
Use your fingertips again to blend out the product. The fingers are really great for blending because the natural warmth of them helps to blend out the product so it looks most natural.
Now your cheeks should have a subtle flush of colour.
To help create a more seamless finish and diffused edges you can take a stippling brush and gently “buff” over the cheeks using small circular motions.
Don’t stop there! Cheek stains can also be used on the lips, use the applicator to apply the stain as you would if you were using a lip brush.
Then you’re finished!
