Makeup tips for teenagers
Simple and lovely makeup for teenagers for their special night-out
My cousin is gearing up for an upcoming event, which has been marked on her calendar as a ‘save-the-date’. She is super-duper excited and preparing for it way-well in advance. I often find her in animated discussion with her friends about what to wear and how to look.
I know it’s not a biggie, but then she is all of 16 and life is beautiful. When I was her age, I too wanted to take the world by storm. So, normal for her to be getting all pepped up for an occasion which is scheduled 6 months from now. Anyways, I decided to help her out.Common beauty problems of a teenager are acne, whiteheads, blackheads, frequent bad hair days, combination skin, too much tan, thanks to hormonal changes and chalk-a-block schedule (tuitions, after college lectures, endless workshops, late-hour studying). The list doesn’t end! So how would she ever get time to look pretty? I am listing down a few Do’s and Don’ts that can come handy. However, if you are just starting out, don’t forget to seek permission from mum-dad. Who knows, mum might share some tips and tricks. She might even help you out during those first few trial sessions. So, herewe go.
For face and skin:
- First and foremost, always wash your face with a good face wash (suits your skin type). Back-it up with a light moisturizer or an oil control lotion that helps in soaking all the excessive oil. It also keeps your skin hydrated.
- Those stubby blackheads and whiteheads can be removed by gentle scrubbing. Apply mud pack (with rose water) thereafter to seal all the open pores. The cooling effects of a mud- pack relax the skin, making it softer and gentle.
- Avoid wearing heaps of makeup. For your age, its best to go light and natural. Instead of a foundation, opt for a tinted moisturizer. It evens out the skin.
- Apply concealer on pimply areas where foundation doesn’t work. I suggest don’t rub it on your skin. Try patting it gently on the blemishes. Pick a color that works for your skin tone.
- Stay away from heavy blush. Again, lighter hues and shades are recommended such as rosy pink or bronze. Apply blush with a thick brush on the sides of your cheeks and a gentle touch on nose, chin and forehead.
- I suggest, never leave the house without applying some sunscreen (even when it’s not sunny). SPF 15 to 30 works.
- And of course, drink plenty of water. At least 2 litres every day.
