You're so fancy, you already know... but prepare to be even fancier after figuring out how get this foiled mani, thanks to Julie Kandalec, creative director of Paintbox Nail Salon.
Tools you'll need:
1. Navy blue nail polish
2. Nail foil adhesive
3. Transfer foil
4. Cotton swab
1. Prep and paint. File your nails into the desired shape, push back your cuticles—DO NOT CUT THEM!
—and apply a basecoat. Then paint your nails with two coats of a polish that matches a color in the foil. Kandalec recommends using a royal blue, like Zoya Nail Polish in "Song."2. Allow your nails to dry and then swipe on a nail foil adhesive. Your nails must be 100 percent dry before applying the foil. But first, in order to get the foil to stick, you have to use a special transfer foil adhesive, like It's So Easy Foil Glue. Paint it over your colored nail polish and allow it to dry for about one minute or until the glue turns clear.
3. Start foiling! Lay a piece of transfer foil over your nail and gently press it into the adhesive with a cotton swab, starting in the middle at the base of your nail and moving across your nail from left to right in a back-and-forth motion to flatten it perfectly. Then gently peel off the foil.
Finally, apply two coats of a non-quick drying topcoat, like OPI Top Coat, and don't forget to swipe it over the tips of your nails to protect the foil from coming up on the edges.
Note: Using transfer foils with polish only lasts a few days, so it's best if you wear this look for a special event. Make sure you apply it the day before so it looks flawless.
Now go pin, tweet, and Instagram your new foil mani that your friends are bound to be jealous of!
