This Biracial Woman Paid Photoshop Pros To Make Her "Beautiful"

Journalist Priscilla Yuki Wilson sent a picture of herself to photo editors from 18 countries and asked them to make her "beautiful." Wilson, who is half black and half Japanese, says she became interested in this idea after being "taught that my natural self did not comply with conventional standards set forth by society.

Inspired by Esther Honig, who wanted to explore how beauty standards differ around the world, Wilson wanted to look at how photo editors handled race, and what beauty standards are for biracial women.

As she writes on her blog:

In contrast to Honig’s results, where her face became a canvas to express more than a dozen contrasting beauty standards, I found that my face actually challenged the application of photoshop in this instance. As a biracial women there is no standard of beauty or mold that can easily fit my face.
