Between trying to keep up with the latest hair trends, techniques, products and styling tools, it seems like there’s always something new to learn about our hair these days. But, there are some basic hairstyling techniques that every woman should master before we go and get overwhelmed by new tips and tricks!
Let’s keep it simple and practice on these six basic hairstyling techniques every woman should know.1. To blow dry hair straight
Always use a round hairbrush. It will straighten your hair while adding lift and volume to your locks. Look for a 100% boar bristle brush whenever possible as it’s much more gentle on the hair.
2. To keep hair healthy
Don’t shampoo your hair every day! Doing so may actually strip your hair of natural oils that it needs. Try to skip at least a day in between hair washes and use a dry shampoo if necessary.
3. To grow out hair
Don’t skip out on regular trims! It may seem counterintuitive, but keeping your ends in tip top shape will actually help your hair grow faster. Try to schedule a regular trim at least every six to eight weeks.
4. To curl your hair
You’ll want to make sure that you are using the curling iron in a way that curls your hair away from your face. A small barrel curling iron will result in tight curls while a bigger curling iron will give you big waves. After curling, brush lightly to loosen the curls and apply a hairspray to set your curls into place.
5. To style your hair in a bun
Try the sock bun trick! It’s an easy way to make a cute ballerina bun that’s ready in a matter of minutes. Simply make a ponytail then use a sock that’s been shaped into a donut and roll your hair into it. Continue rolling your hair into the sock until you have a complete bun!
6. To master the ponytail
Try a few different looks like a side ponytail, low ponytails and adding some waves into your ponytail look. Another neat trick that’s easy to try is to hide your rubber band in your hair. Simply leave a piece of hair loose from your ponytail and then wrap it around the rubber band. It’s a quick and simple way for a much more polished ponytail.
